Welcome to the 15th issue of the ECD Voice, the first newsletter of 2025! This year marks a significant milestone in Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Education services in Zimbabwe, with ZINECDA playing a pivotal role.
In the first term of 2025, Zimbabwe implemented the new Heritage-Based Curriculum, transitioning to a play-based learning approach for ECD. A landmark achievement occurred in March when the Cabinet approved the National Early Childhood Development Framework, aiming to provide accessible, quality, and affordable services for children up to seven years old. This framework aligns with global and regional protocols, striving to harmonize existing policies to ensure quality ECD programs for all children.
Additionally, a visit from the Roger Federer Foundation’s new CEO provided insights into the School Readiness Initiative Project. ZINECDA also participated in the National Joint Monitoring Visit, leading to valuable recommendations submitted to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to enhance ECD services.
As the year unfolds, we remain dedicated to advocating for improved ECD services and timely funding from the Treasury. We encourage stakeholders to visit The New Africa Education Hub for updates on early childhood development advancements.! Read more!
